"I suggest that Uvikiuta hold a preliminary virtual meeting where they can share information about the project, accommodations, recommendations, etc. I suggest this because I noticed that the volunteers had different information regarding the program. Also, I do not recommend staying at the Umoja Lutheran Hostel that Uvikiuta recommends."

"J’ai effectué mon volontariat sur l’île Mafia et je ne recommande pas d’y rester plus d’un petit mois. L’île est jolie mais il y’a peu d’activités à faire sur place. J’étais accompagné d’un seul volontaire Tanzanien durant les 2 mois de projet et je me suis sentie assez isolée. J’ai rencontré peu de monde et ça m’a un peu déçue."

"The pickup and drive to the camp could have been more organized. There was no communication from the program coordinator before I reached out myself. Expected to work more than 3 hours a day."

"Better description in infosheet - for accommodation and packing things. But on the other side it was the best experience for me. I can recommend! I am glad that I could visit Africa."

"Overall I had a very good experience. There were some organizational issues but this was their first workcamp with international volunteers since COVID and so a few glitches can be expected."

"the camp was great in a wonderful place. we really got the opportunity to discover the Tanzanian culture. Everybody was so kind. the only thing is that we were only tree volunteers and that there were not enough communication among leaders. despite this, it was an amazing experience"

"I really enjoyed my volunteering time in Zanzibar. I especially enjoyed making friends with fellow volunteers from Zanzibar. I learned a lot about agriculture, hard work, and development and sustainability issues. I enjoyed being in Africa and in Zanzibar, and seeing some of the sites. The accommodation was basic but fine."

"The program was very badly organised, and we hardly did any work. For two weeks I maybe worked 4-6 hours total, and they did not communicate with us at all. But I got to experience a lot, and it felt more like I was on holiday."

""it was one of the best experiences I've ever made! I loved my teammates and the whole project. It may be a cliché but it made me appreciate all the things I have at home that are a luxury to some people (e.g. sink to wash hands and proper toilet).
I would totally recommend this experience to anyone!""

"The camp was organized well, but the vegetarian food was not satisfactory in relation to protein and such! Hours of working was fitted so the strong sum which was very nice. This work camp was especially great socially because no volunteer was from the same country. This gave the camp so much culture and diversity! I would 100% recommend this camp."

"We didn't really follow the schedule we were supposed to, but i think that is just the way they do things in Tanzania. instead we had a lot of freedom to do what we wanted, like visit the elementary school or go to the city. it was a great trip!. The people from UVIKIUTA was very helpful and friendly! GET A BUSINESS VISA the government will check!"

"It's a nice camp, the work is not really painful, it's really a cultural exchange. The house where we live is well maintained. There was a cook who spent her days cooking. We slept on real beds, with a good mattress. The management of time could be reviewed, there are a lot of time dead. Attention, a visa bussines (250dollars) is necessary"

""I would recommend everyone to travel this way. It is a life changing and eye-opening experience.
It it great to give and at the same time learn a lot from other cultures. I got friends for a lifetime.
UVIKIUTA is a great organisation, the projects are wellorganised and the team leaders are well-prepared.
Thank you! Asante sana ""

""The positive things:
1) Friendly local people
2) Good local food
3) Good introduction and the last day and feedback sessions.
The negative things:
1) Not organized detailed agenda for the days
2)We did not work with children much, 1/2 of the day - work in the garden.
3)Safari tour was awful because the car was really old and dangerous to drive.""

"The problem was that they forgot to tell us in the welcome letter that a business visa to Tanzania cost 250 $ and the ferry back and forth between Zanzibar and Dar es-Salaam is 35 $ per way. In the letter you can read it like you get picked up from the airport and gets a free transportation to Zanzibar. You only get it to a first night sleep in Dar"
