Perched at 1,100 meters above sea level in the heart of the Prealpes d Azur Regional Natural Park, Caussols is a unique mountain village surrounded by wide open landscapes, rocky plateaus and incredible night skies. Far from crowded tourist destinations, this place offers a real break from everyday life, while still being only 30 minutes away from Grasse and the French Riviera.For two weeks, you will live as part of an international group in an extraordinary natural setting, between mountains, outdoor life and collective adventure. Whether you enjoy hiking, sunsets, starry nights or simply disconnecting from city life, Caussols is the perfect place to experience something different this summer.


Description of the Work

For centuries, an ancient Roman road crossed the Caussols plateau. Over time, parts of this historic path have deteriorated, and the municipality now wants to help restore and preserve this important local heritage.127919; Your mission: take part in the restoration of an old stone pathway by helping build a traditional dry-stone calade. Through this project, you will contribute to preserving a piece of local history while learning traditional construction techniques.128736;65039;Guided by a technical supervisor, you will progressively learn:9679; how to prepare the ground;9679; how to sort and move stones;9679; how to build and stabilize a stone pathway;9679; basic dry-stone construction techniques.No previous experience is required. The project is mainly about learning, teamwork and sharing a meaningful experience with volunteers from different countries.Beyond the work itself, this camp is also about group life, meeting new people and creating unforgettable memories together.


Accommodation & Food

During the entire project, you will stay in tents on a field located near the town hall, right in the middle of the plateau.9978; Camping in Caussols means sleeping under the stars, enjoying fresh mountain air and living close to nature in a peaceful and unique environment.129749; A fully equipped kitchen will be available for the group. Volunteers will cook meals together and take part in the daily organization of camp life.Meals, outdoor evenings, games, music and intercultural exchanges will all be an important part of the experience.

Outside working hours, you will have plenty of opportunities to explore the area and enjoy outdoor activities.128301; Starry nights and astronomy Caussols is famous for its incredibly clear night sky and is home to the Cote d Azur Observatory. Depending on availability, a visit to the observatory may be organized.129406; Hiking and breathtaking landscapes The plateau offers many hiking trails through rocky landscapes, mountains and typical karst formations. Some viewpoints even overlook the Mediterranean coastline and the French Riviera.127749; Full nature immersion Sunsets over the mountains, evenings around the camp and life outdoors will make this project a real escape from everyday urban life.129472; Discover local traditions You may also have the opportunity to meet local farmers and discover traditional pastoral life and regional products from the plateau.127754; Close to the French Riviera Depending on the group s wishes and logistics, outings to nearby towns such as Grasse, Nice or other villages in the region may also be organized during free time.


Requirements

International workcamps are based on teamwork, mutual respect and community life.No technical skills are needed, but motivation, open-mindedness and willingness to participate in group life are essential.Please note that the project involves outdoor living and camping for the whole duration of the stay.

Host Organization

Jeunesse et Reconstruction is a non profit organisation that has been developing, since 1948, activities towards young people: voluntary workcamps, more than 1000 projects proposed in France and abroad thanks to our partner organisations) mid and long-term voluntary service programmes, training for volunteers Through the organisation of these activities, we wish to promote values against all discrimination, for solidarity, commitment and voluntary work. A team of staff and a group of active volunteers work all year long for the setting up and follow up of the association activities. The head office is responsible for : The co-ordination of the regional delegations, the relations with the foreign partners, the fund-raising, the publications and external communication of the association, the inscriptions of the volunteers on the different programmes, the setting up and follow up of the long term programmes, the organisation of the information sessions and the training sessions for volunteers. The regional delegations of Jeunesse et Reconstruction The three regional delegations of the association are responsible for the setting up and follow up of the workcamp activity in France. They are in charge of the contacts with the local partners, the preparation of the applications for funds of the activities. They ensure the logistic and pedagogic follow up of the teams of volunteers, while the activities are taking place on the spot. The regional delegations also take part in the training made for campleaders and workcamp co-ordinators, and are involved in the follow up of some projects of long term voluntary work at a local level. Agreements and networking Jeunesse et Reconstruction is registered by the French Ministry of Youth and Sports. The association is a member of COTRAVAUX (French co-ordination), the Alliance of European Voluntary Service Organisation, of the C.C.I.V.S. (UNESCO), of the I.C.Y.E. Federation.
