DREAM CARE ACTION is an International Workcamp developed in partnership with the Santa Casa da Misericórdia of Salvaterra de Magos, an institution dedicated to the care and support of elderly people. The camp aims to involve international volunteers in voluntary actions that contribute to the improvement and enhancement of spaces used by the elderly, promoting well-being, dignity and quality of life for residents. At the same time, the project seeks to strengthen intergenerational solidarity, civic engagement and international cooperation through volunteering in a social care context.

Cleaning and organising outdoor and common areas of the elderly care institution, including patios, walkways, leisure areas and shared spaces used by residents and staff.

Breakfast is prepared individually by volunteers. Dinner is cooked by volunteers on a rotation basis. Lunch is usually prepared by the organisation. Cleaning and organisation of the space are done by volunteers together with the camp leaders. During weekdays, the space is shared with children, young people and other monitors.

Location & Leisure

The camp takes place in Salvaterra de Magos, a picturesque town located in central Portugal, in the district of Santarém. The area is predominantly rural, characterised by agricultural landscapes, green fields and the proximity of the Tagus River, which contributes to a calm and pleasant natural environment. Despite its tranquil setting, Salvaterra de Magos benefits from good connections to nearby urban centres, allowing easy access to services and transport networks.
The location offers an ideal balance between nature and accessibility, providing a peaceful environment suitable for outdoor activities, social interaction and cultural exploration. The town includes essential local amenities such as small shops, cafés and community spaces, ensuring volunteers have the necessary conditions for a comfortable stay.
