World Heritage Volunteers Huejotzingo

Huejotzingo, Mexico

En partenariat avec

The Mexican Association of International Volunteering AC (AMVIAC) participates in the transformation of the country through the integration of International Volunteering in projects organized in Mexico and abroad by civil associations, local governments, communities
and organized groups, with the idea that after this experience they can become
more actively involved in the work of their community.

Description du travail

Over the past fourteen years, the World Heritage Volunteers (WHV) initiative has grown enormously due to the growing interest and appreciation for the protection and preservation of World Heritage sites. For the third time, an international volunteer camp will be held at the Ex-Convent of San Miguel Arcángel, located in the municipality of Huejotzingo. The former convent is a Franciscan construction, considered the first “convent-fortress temple” built in New Spain, and was declared
a World Cultural Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1994. Huejotzingo will receive national
and international volunteers to carry out awareness-raising activities about the importance
of preserving local cultural heritage, supporting the preservation of the 16th century
ex-convent on the slopes of Popocatépetl. This project envisages collaborative
work with the heritage management bodies of the state of Puebla as well as with
the community and academic institutions.

Hébergement & Nourriture

Lodging will be in a house provided by a family in the community and has all the necessary facilities for lodging and cleanliness..
The accommodation is located 4 blocks from the center of Calpan.

Organisation d'accueil

AMVIAC (Mexican Association of International Volunteering A.C.) was born on the December the 5th, 2014 at the initiative of Mexican ex-volunteers and professionals wishing to participate in the transformation of the country through the integration of the International Volunteering in projects in Mexico organized by civil associations, municipalities, communities and organized groups. This transformation of Mexico materialises as well by sending Mexican young people to projects abroad with the idea that this experience can, upon their return to the country, encourage them to engage more actively in the work of their community. VISION The association's vision is the transformation of Mexican society, especially youth, giving them opportunities to travel and to live unique experiences as volunteers both in Mexico and abroad participating in projects of general interest and reverting that experience in their communities, schools , families, neighbourhoods, organizations and jobs, for the betterment of our country.
