Chich Bong Kindergarten (Childcare)

Chich Bong Kindergarten is now having 2 classes for kids aging from 1 year to 6 years old. The kindergarten aims at teaching art subjects, dance, sports, music, some basic writing (for 5-6 years old) and English. Besides, there are some extracurricular activities which are often conducted to better the children’s understanding and enhance their relationship.

The big class (from 3 years old to 6 years old) has 20 students and small class (under 3 years old) has 15 students. The volunteer is expected to help the kids with some English teaching, take care of and play with the kids, organize game, teach kids to make handicrafts, drawing, painting, songs, dance or even feed the kids sometimes, etc.

There will also be 2 local teachers in the class to help the volunteers to manage the class if needed.

The manager of the school can speak English and will support and work closely with volunteers.

There is easy access to the internet and some equipments that the volunteers may need to use for their activities.


Description of the Work

The volunteer is expected to help the kids with some English teaching, take care of and play with the kids, organize game, teach kids to make handicrafts, drawing, painting, songs, dance or even feed the kids sometimes, etc.

The followings can be expected:

Teaching English (for 4-6 years old kids)
- Teach children basic English through songs, dances and informal education.
- Create educational materials for the children.
- Help kids be more confident in communicating in English

Childcare (2-3 years old)
- Organize games for the children
- Participate in outdoor activities of the school/classes when needed
- Help the teachers with taking care of the children when needed.

Working hours: 8:30 – 16:30 with a lunch break from 10:30 – 14:30


Accommodation & Food

Volunteers will stay in a dormitory with rooms shared with other volunteers. Living conditions will be Vietnamese standard with shared bathroom, shared room with bunkbeds. Mattress, blanket, pillow and mosquito net are provided.
Food will be provided at accommodation everyday except Saturday. Meals will be mostly local food, which vary from the daily cooking schedule. Volunteers, especially those who are vegetarian may be required to do some cooking by themselves. Sometimes, food is provided by the host project during workdays.


Location & Leisure

ROSE kindergarten is around 5km away from the volunteer house and situated in Bac Tu Liem district, Hanoi.
Travel to work from volunteer accommodation: about 1/2 hour by bus.

- Extra fee: 430 EUR for the first 2 weeks, 115 EUR for every extra week


Host Organization

Volunteers For Peace Vietnam (VPV) is a non-profit, voluntary organization founded in 2005 with the aim to promote voluntary service as a mean of cultural and educational exchange among people, for peace and friendship, and as an approach to address social problems. VPV is a full member of the UNESCO’s Coordinating Committee for International Voluntary Service (CCIVS) and of the Network for Voluntary Development in Asia (NVDA). VPV is also a partner of the ALLIANCE of European Voluntary Organizations, the International Cultural Youth Exchange Federation (ICYE) and Service Civil International (SCI) VPV is officially recognized by the Government of Vietnam/Permit No. BM330. VPV is organizing international workcamps and SLMTV placements in different projects (teaching/education, healthcare and HIV/AID prevention, organic farm and sustainable agriculture, conservation, community development, etc). VPV is also sending Vietnamese volunteers abroad.
