TSU INTERNATIONAL COLLEGE - SONGKHLA

The International College of Thaksin university was officially established in June 2021 and will start the first academic year in June 2024. The college needs the international volunteers corporation support in the academic program with the students.

The professor have been working with international volunteers through Humanities and Sociology faculty since 2014

Thaksin university is a public university located in Songkhla nd Phattalung province. International college located in Songkhla campus with 8 facilities. There are about 10,000 students in Songkhla campus. The first year of college will open for 200 students. International volunteers will assist in the class. There are about 50 students per class. There will be a teacher/professor in each subject who volunteers will work with.

Songkhla province is the biggest province in the deep Southern Thailand. Located along the sea and the only lake in Thailand. There are about 200,000 residents in town with 171.9 sqr.km.

Volunteer will have chance to work with other faculty and institute in Thaksin university which are Humanities and Sociology faculty (attending class activities) and Folklore museum which structured under the university.


Description of the Work

Aims
Volunteers are the key person to make the students, teachers and Local community
speak using English in daily life.

They learn English in the class but only in reading and writing (grammarly) but very lacking in speaking with Each other due to the culture barrier. When there are international volunteers, the environment in the school and community force to use English and they also couple exchange with volunteers.

From Monday to Friday, 08:30 - 16:30, the volunteer will be at the school, teaching for 3-4 hours a day and preparing lessons in the teacher's room. In addition, the volunteer will participate in school activities such as Sports Day, Buddhist Day, and more.

Workplaces
There will be 2 schools which are Ban Krogluek School and Ban Maab Grad School. The local host may schedule Monday-Wednesday work in one school and Thursday and Friday work in another school.

You will meet different classes each day. So the activities you prepare can be used similarly in both school and each class. InterCultural and Language Topic (Just an ideas) Where is Europe/Belgium? Bring the map, locate (question or teach) Europe continent, Belgium and basic to know about your countries, culture, people, your family and let them tell you about their family by making cards or any other ideas What time is it? Learn how to say the time in English and tell them about your country's time now compared with the time around the world using the map location, explain why time differs
Basic Flemish language Learn them what is basic Flemish conversation and let them write if the alphabet is different. f you are good as sport/art/music/programing/photo, etc. why not bring or play and teach them your skills


Accommodation & Food

Participants will stay at university dormitory, shared room, rest room. There are common room. Beding is provided.

Volunteer will receive budget for food. Breakfast and dinner will be at the university canteen. And Lunch will be at the working place.

Coin-operated washing machine are available at the accommodation.

Internet will be at accmommodation and wokring place or you can buy Thai sim card.

Volunteer Spirit Association (ex Sawasdee) is a non-profit (NPO)/non-government (NGO) / a peace organization that coordinates international voluntary projects for people of all ages, cultures, religious and economic backgrounds. Our work is based on the belief that all people are capable of living together and cooperating with mutual respect and without recourse to violence to solve conflicts. Through international voluntary work we aim to give people the chance to experience this way of living whilst contributing in a useful manner to the community. Volunteer Spirit Association had started its activities in 2008 and organized first international workcamp in 2009.
