Description of the Work

CEte-E -CEte Go ASBL has set itself the mission of creating an environment that enables CPs to realize their life project through autonomy and solidarity in order to become actors in society. This project also allows the inhabitants and friends of CEte-E -CEte Go asbl, with or without disabilities, to enrich themselves by sharing a life experience.The volunteer will be a part of the household and will share the values of CEte-E -CEte. He will accompany the people in their daily life, bring his own ideas and his energy in a mixed group of people.Depending on his abilities and his adaptation, the volunteer will perform the following tasks alone or with someone: Manage daily life in a team setting while emphasizing the autonomy ability of each resident Assist residents in their autonomy and self-sufficiency project Organize community activities with the residents Ensure safety and wellbeing of the residents by handling morning and evening activities. Morning: breakfast, preparation for outings, maybe escorting to the place of activity. Evening: dinner, leisure activities, getting to bed. As needed: ensure security and wellbeing of residents at night.

About the project location:The house is located in the center of Louvain-la-Neuve, near shops, woods, and a little lake. Louvain-la-Neuve is a planned city in the municipality of Ottignies-Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium, situated 30 km southeast of Brussels, in the French-speaking part of the country. The city was originally built in the 70s to house the UniversitE Catholique de Louvain. As a result, it is now a very lively mix of cultures, ages and backgrounds. Located 30 km from Brussels in the heart of Walloon Brabant, the site of the University of Louvain-la-Neuve welcomes over 20,000 students in its eleven faculties.Created in 1971 by the university, this city is one of the youngest in Europe. A city in the countryside, it offers an exceptional living environment to students, researchers, professors and inhabitants. Museums, cinemas, theaters, concert and exhibition halls, a swimming pool and sports center, restaurants and cafEs, shops and green spaces: all contribute to the quality of its environment.Its entirely pedestrianized urban center allows easy access to all academic buildings and provides an environment where students, researchers, professors and residents meet and form a unique social, cultural and economic fabric.About the leisure activities possible:There is always something to do in Louvain-la-Neuve: shows, festivals, events organized by students, museums, language courses, sport facilities, parks, etc. The location is also very central in Belgium; you can easily travel anywhere by train or bus. Visit Brussels, Namur, Bruges, the coast, Antwerp, and more.


Requirements

3 to 12 monthsNotions of French are required: Be able to do the small talk.


Host Organization

International Volunteering Service (SVI) is a pluralistic youth organization run by and for young people, by and for volunteers. Apolitical and non-religious, SVI is opened to all and everyone, without discrimination of nationality, philosophy, financial resources, education or sexual orientation. SVI is registered in Belgium as a non-profit organization. The association mainly works in the field of international volunteering, but also in the areas of youth exchanges and intercultural exchanges between young Europeans and the rest of the world. SVI is recognized as youth organization by the Belgian French Community Government and has partnerships with many international volunteering organizations and NGOs in over 70 countries. Each year, SVI sends around 600 young volunteers abroad from 2 weeks to few months. The organization aims at generating young people interest (from 18 to 30 years old) in international volunteerism. One of its goals is also to promote citizenship, solidarity and mobility among young European as well as between young European and young people from other parts of the world.
